6 Fandom Inspired Halloween Costumes

Halloween is just around the corner and one of the best things about it are all the costume parties! Thus, I spend probably 80 % of the year thinking about various outfits I could pull off come next Halloween. However, I rarely do the Halloween costumes I really want to try because they are too demanding.

Nonetheless I wanted to show a few options for Halloween costumes.

6 Fandom Inspired Costumes

The first three more demanding ones inspired by Lagertha for Vikings, Amy Pond from Doctor Who, and the Evil Queen (aka Regina Mills) from Once upon a Time.

Lagertha is a strong warrior so comfort is key: pants and long sleeved shirt are comfortable and keep you warm in the chilly October weather. A faux fur vest is reminiscent of the ancient warrior people in Norway. Round the whole outfit up with Celtic inspired jewelry, comfy boots, and braided hair and you’ll be the most impressive viking at the party!

Amy’s look is also all about comfort – but with a mini skirt! A soft flannel shirt and a leather jacket and you’re ready to kick some dalek ass! If you have a chance, get a red wig to give the costume the final touch.

The Evil Queen is formidable yet sultry: she favors blacks and deep reds with a fair amount of bling. Black faux leather pants pair nicely with a fancy red top and chunky statement jewelry. Furthermore, it’s an outfit you could even wear to a party around the year. Remember a sleek hairdo and red lips!

If you are in a hurry and want an easier costume, here are a few options. Combine black leggings with a black top and add a headband with cat ears. Voilá – you’re a witch’s familiar!

The Queen of Hearts only needs a voluminous red dress and a little crown to be recognizable. But you can also grab a heart scepter or make one yourself if you want a little addition. And don’t forget to yell “off with their heads” a lot!

The final outfit is inspired by Disney’s Little Mermaid. Ariel’s bra can be faked with a fun sea shell top. Add a starfish barrette in your hair and some mermaid leggings you’re good to go!

What costume are you planning on wearing for Halloween?

Sookie Stackhouse: Florals + Colorful Patterns

Have you guys been watching the new season of True Blood? I loved True Blood when it started and, even though I’m not a huge fan of the plot lines that have been going on during the last few seasons, I still want to watch every episode. Especially since this is the last season! I love the books too and I think Anna Paquin has done a great job in bringing Sookie Stackhouse to life. And who could not love Alexander Skarsgård?

I wanted to do a style collection inspired by Sookie simply because I adore her clothes! They’re always so feminine and pretty – even though she can be kick-ass too!

Sookie Stackhouse Style

In this first set, all the dresses are from Modcloth. I noticed when I was putting this set together that the dresses that kept popping up that most reminded me of Sookie were all from there. IT’s understandable because Sookie is very girly and has a lot of even old-fashioned beautifully cut dresses. But if Modcloth  isn’t quite in your price range, I’ve collected these cute separates that are all inspired by Sookie’s feminine but comfortable style.

I feel like Sookie’s style is perfect for the summer. If you go with either a pair of black shorts with a cute denim jacket or a yellow sundress, you’ll be cute as a button for work or a party!

Project Self-Expression: New Blog!

Hiiii and welcome to my brand new lifestyle blog! I’m starting this blog as a part of my self-expression project! I’m completely nervous about posting my thoughts and opinions for all of you to see but hey, that’s just part of being an introvert…I’m trying to get over it!

I’ve always wanted to write a blog and now I’ve finally done something about it. As you might notice as time goes by, sometimes I’m a bit slow to start something new – or then I might start something but forget about it in the next minute – but I’m hoping this’ll keep me active and interested for years to come.

I love fashion, art, books, and design and I’m gonna try to incorporate all of those in this blog. I tend to take all the photos on this blog myself unless otherwise mentioned. Hopefully I’ll also be able to showcase my illustrations and other projects to you later on!

This little Polyvore set was basically just me brainstorming ideas for a party outfit for the coming Thursday when my uni subject organization is having a Christmas party (I revised an old set) . I can’t wait to see all my friends and go out!
